Hypothermia Shelter: The Hypothermia Prevention Response Program provides a warm place to stay on cold winter nights during the winter months. Churches open their doors to host the shelter and provide all the food, supplies and people to run the shelter each night.

Centreville UMC partners with St. Stephen’s UMC in Burke, VA to host the shelter one week each winter. This January 4 and 5, nearly 40 guests will be hosted by CUMC servants at St. Stephen’s UMC during two of the coldest days of the year. St. Stephen’s opened their doors all day due to the snowy conditions. If you would like to participate in Hypothermia Shelter opportunities, contact Barb Shaiko.

Supportive Housing Program: The Supportive Housing Program of FACETS provides comprehensive support for individuals and families that are homeless. Services include both permanent and transitional supportive housing. Supportive Housing is based on the “Housing First” model, which argues that the first step to ending homelessness must begin with a home. CUMC offers support to FACETS and the Supportive Housing Program through the Mission Council budget.
