Centreville Day School is a non-profit, child focused Christian preschool providing developmentally appropriate experiences designed to foster your child’s cognitive, spiritual, social, and physical growth.
Centreville Day School (CDS) serves a large group of preschool children ages 2 1/2 to 6 and is licensed by the state of Virginia. Centreville Day School employs a large staff: including a director, an administrative assistant, classroom teachers, classroom aides, and a music teacher. Our school year runs from September through May.
Each day, all of the children experience a variety of planned activities, free play, and a snack. Weekly, all 2.5’s, 3’s, PK4’s, and PK5’s have a special music class, and monthly our 3’s, PK4’s and PK5’s have the opportunity to experience chapel time. Family support, interest, and involvement are essential to any successful program for children. Centreville Day School enjoys and encourages family participation. Families are welcome to visit any time. Centreville Day School welcomes all children from the church and community to be a part of this special preschool program.

2 1/2 Year Old Program
This program is designed for children 2 ½ to 3 years old. Each day provides a comfortable and stimulating routine, and many opportunities for both teacher directed activities and child choice activities. Manipulatives, puzzles, block center, books, housekeeping, and dress up corner all help to enrich your child’s learning environment. Their days will include art projects, rhythm band, singing, stories, and playground or indoor gym. The children will also have Bible Day once a month. Each class has 8 children with a teacher and a teacher aide. Toilet training is not required.
3 Year Old Program
This program fosters the children’s happy feelings about school, and learning to work and play in a group. During the year the teacher will encourage the development of self expression and independence, self control, listening, and social skills. There are daily activities to develop large and small muscles. Art and music, playground or indoor gym time, stories, and child choice free play are a part of each school day. The children will learn to recognize basic shapes, primary and secondary colors, and their own first names. In addition, the children will have music class once a week with our music teacher and have Chapel Time once a month. Each class has 14 children with a teacher and a teacher aide. Toilet training is required.
Pre-K 4 Year Old Program
This program is for children whose parents intend for them to attend kindergarten in the 2018-2019 school year, and specifically focuses on a pre-kindergarten curriculum. The class builds on skills that the child acquired in preschool or at home the previous year. Our emphasis is on self- confidence and positive feelings about school. Social development and creative play are encouraged. Projects, stories, and music are all incorporated into the curriculum to give each child the opportunity to learn skills necessary for kindergarten. The teachers work with the children on pre-reading and pre-math skills. In addition, the children have music with our music teacher once a week and Chapel Day once a month. Each class has 16 children with a teacher and a teacher aide. Toilet training is required.
Pre-K 5 Year Old Program
This program is designed to provide a transitional bridge from preschool to kindergarten for the child who turns 5 years old by November 30, 2017. This class will provide additional opportunities for the child’s social and emotional growth, as well as the development of fine and gross motor skills, and reading/math readiness in a small group setting 5 mornings per week. The planned units of study will integrate all of these emphases. Permanent science/nature and writing centers are also a part of the pre-k classroom. Field trips are planned to coordinate with the units. In addition, the children have music once a week with our music teacher, and Chapel Day once a month. Toilet training is required.
Extended Day Programs
The Lunch Bunch program is a 1 hour and 45 minute lunch extension open to CDS preschool children aged 3 and older currently enrolled in the 3’s, PK4’s, and PK5’s morning session. Following their regular morning class at preschool, children enrolled in Lunch Bunch will enjoy their healthy packed lunch from home and extended program activities. Registration for Lunch Bunch is separate from the CDS registration for the fall, winter, and spring sessions.
