Society of St. Andrew PDF Print E-mail

Society of St. Andrew - The mission of the Society of St. Andrew is to introduce people to God's grace in Jesus Christ through meeting their hungers: Food for the body, God's word for the spirit, Community of love for the heart, and Opportunity for those who desire action.

Potato Drop – The next potato drop is scheduled for May 17, 2014. A large tractor trailer with 40 tons of sweet potatoes arrived at CUMC. A volunteer coordinator and event leader is needed! Volunteers are needed to help bag the potatoes in 10 – 15 pound bags.  The bagged potatoes were then distributed to different agencies helping to feed the hungry in Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun Counties.

Gleaning – CUMC groups help to glean fields or orchards in the fall through Society of St. Andrew.

Food For All baskets are located around the church where non-perishable food donations are received each Sunday. The donated foods are delivered by volunteers to the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries food pantry each week. Everyone is invited to bring one non-perishable food item each week to help keep the food pantry shelves full throughout the year.

During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season, financial gifts and food are collected for two deliveries of Food Baskets assembled and delivered by volunteers to assist needy families in the Centreville community.  300 baskets were prepared and delivered in 2013.
