Our Wandering Wise Men – December 1

THE LOST SHEEP

Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar set out to find the Christ child “not knowing wither they were going.”  The magi were hopeful when they happened upon some shepherds who were painting their sheep white to hide the blemishes in their wool.  “This is an excellent method,”said Caspar, “let us polish our crowns to seek the newborn king.”  The three kings were very excited about the idea, until one of the shepherds remarked, “This method works pretty good.  Unless it snows, then the sheep get lost.”

WESLEY’S QUESTION:  Am I consciously or unconsciously creating the impression that I am better than I really am?  In other words, am I a hypocrite?

SCRIPTURE:  If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:8-9)

FOOLISH WISDOM:  Beware of posing as a profound person, God became a baby.  We are so abominably serious, so desperately interested in our own characters, that we refuse to behave like Christians in the simple concerns of life.  Take no one seriously except for God -especially not yourself.  You’ll find that the first person you need to leave severely alone is yourself, for being the greatest fraud you’ve ever encountered, is you. (Oswald Chambers)
