Volunteering opportunities and procedures at CUMC have changed for the time being due to COVID-19. If you are interested in getting involved with CUMC during the pandemic, please click HERE to visit our COVID-19 Response & Relief Page or call the church office at (703)-830-2684 to learn about what volunteer opportunities are available at this time.
CUMC Lawn Crew
Volunteers from the church help maintain the lawn and cut the grass. This allows the church to direct yard maintenance funding to other church needs. Each volunteer is assigned to a team which meets about one Saturday morning a month for about 2 hours. We are now arranging teams for the 2018 season. We would like to increase the number of members on each team or possibly increase the number of teams. If you are interested in joining a team or filling in as a substitute, please contact Russ Luehrsen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each Sunday, the offering is counted by a dedicated team of offering tellers. There is currently a need for persons who are willing to serve once a month on an offering teller team. Counting starts after the conclusion of the 9:30 AM service and lasts until between 12:00 and 12:30 PM. There are openings on the Fourth Sunday and Fifth Sunday teams. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Anne Muradaz at email@example.com.
Nursery and Sunday School Substitutes
Help children form the foundations of their faith by volunteering in the nursery or teaching Sunday school on a substitute basis. No experience necessary, only the desire to share the message of God’s love. Contact Joy Rangel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sunday Greeters & Welcome Center Hosts
We need Sunday Morning Volunteers to serve as greeters or to host the Welcome Center for the 11:00 AM service to welcome people and help direct them where to go. If you would like to join our Sunday team or need information about these ministries, please contact Cindy Osborn at email@example.com.
Altar Flower Deliveries
Did you know that many weeks the altar flowers are delivered to a sick or homebound member of the church after worship? We are seeking volunteers to deliver the altar flowers after the 11:00 AM service to sick or homebound members. Share God’s love with someone! Join our flower delivery team. For information or to sign up, please contact Cindy Osborn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ESL Hospitality Team
We are seeking a few volunteers (or teams of two) to set out ESL snacks on Tuesday mornings once or twice a month. This is a simple way to “welcome the stranger” in our midst, as the scriptures call us to do. Join us in spreading joy while meeting some wonderful people from all over the world. We have approximately 100 students in our morning classes from every continent. For many this may be the first Christian church they have ever entered. Contact Linda Blake at email@example.com to help us make our students feel like honored guests and welcomed friends!
