"Embracing God's Future" Campaign

In the fall of 2017 Centreville UMC embarked on a three-year capital campaign following several months of study and discernment. The campaign’s goals were to provide the funding needed to make critical repairs to our roof, exterior walls, and replace many of our doors and windows. In addition, it was hoped that the campaign would also permit the church to pay off a large portion of our mortgage principal so that we could free up additional funds from our annual budget to fund our many ministries. A key part of the campaign that resonated with the congregation was our decision to include a mission tithe of 10% of all campaign contributions that would be set aside for our Missions Council.

Since the start of the campaign more than $2 million dollars has been received. We have made the needed repairs to our leaking roofs and replaced the aging metal roofs over the sanctuary and the chapel. Once the leaking roofs were repaired we had a separate campaign to raise the money needed to repair the damage caused by the leaks in the Sanctuary. We were able to make these very necessary repairs and repaint the Sanctuary because of the generosity of many members of our congregation.Work on the exterior walls and doors and windows began in July, 2020.

We have continued to provide funds to the Mission Council and by the end of the campaign will have set aside over $200,000 for the mission work of our church that is over above what is funded in our annual ministry funding. While we did not achieve the goal of being able to reduce our mortgage, we were able to reduce our principal by over $114,000.

The campaign continues through the end of 2020, but donations will continue to be accepted toward the campaign as we move forward into the new year since we still have much to accomplish as we embrace God’s future for our church.
