842 million people in the world do not have enough to eat. Through the many food ministries available at CUMC, you can serve and participate in sharing God’s love through the gift of food to the hungry worldwide.
Food For All baskets are located around the church where non-perishable food donations are received each Sunday. The donated foods are delivered by volunteers to the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) food pantry each week.
GRACE Ministries is a community outreach ministry that serves low-income immigrant families in the local community. On the second Saturday of each month, low-income families are able to receive food purchased by CUMC as well as food made available through the USDA.
In the months of November and December, CUMC collects non-perishable food items to fill Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets to be delivered to families in need in the Centreville community. This ministry is run in partnership with WFCM.
On the third Tuesday of each month CUMC provides a hot dinner meal for over 100 homeless men, women and children living in local motels and on the street. This ministry is run in partnership with FACETS.
The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) is a food rescue and distribution ministry committed to ending world hunger beginning with the elimination of hunger in America. CUMC in the SoSA Gleaning Network, Potato & Produce Drops and the Souper Bowl of Caring.
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. Stop Hunger Now’s meal packaging ministry provides volunteers the opportunity to package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals that are used in crisis situations and in school feeding programs for schools and orphanages in developing countries around the world.
Over 700 UFO’s are distributed each month to children at Bull Run and Centre Ridge Elementary Schools who do not have enough to eat on the weekends.
