On Friday and Saturday, November 16-17, CUMC will host the
Northern Virginia Handbell Festival. Begun in the early 1990’s, the
NOVA Festival attracts anywhere from 8 – 16 handbell choirs from
the Northern Virginia area and beyond. This year’s guest director is
a composer, Tammy Waldrop, from Texas.

The weekend ends with a free concert on Saturday at 2:30 in the
ROC. All are invited to attend.

The services on Sunday, November 18, will have a Thanksgiving theme with music being offered by several choirs and ensembles.  The 9:30 and 11:00 anthem, Look at the World, is by British composer, John Rutter.  Rutter (b. 1945) is a prolific composer of choral music.  His extended compositions, Gloria, Requiem, and Magnificat, are standards and his shorter pieces, especially his works for Christmas, are loved the world over.
