Advent Devotion for December 2 with Ray Leonard
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:28-31
It never ceases to amaze me how scripture relates to our present circumstances. I am sure that as we enter Advent, we are all weary. We are weary of wearing masks, not seeing family and friends, the ongoing divisions within our country and around the world, and yet we have a loving God who is ready to lift us up and give us the strength to go on. There is no better example of the lengths He will go to show his love for us than the gift of Jesus at Christmas. As we prepare for a Christmas experience that will probably be different from what we had anticipated, we can be sure that the reason we celebrate Christmas is the same. Jesus came to us to save us from our sins and show us how our faith in God prepares us to soar like eagles. We can move forward knowing that our gracious and loving God is with us providing the strength for us to face each new day with hope and joy. Come Lord Jesus, come.
