Tuesday Devotion with SunHee Kohari
Today’s advent devotion for this week of praising God for his love was written by SunHee Kohari. The photo is of an original painting by SunHee.
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” Psalm 89: 1-2
During Praise Week, I went to our church and it is beautifully decorated. I vividly remember last year when our grandchildren were excited to attend church services with us and as they helped us by handing out bulletins and candles with other children. As our congregation members entered the church, they were joyful to see the children serving and it was a wonderful generational opportunity to share with all the children and grandchildren our praise for God as we prayerfully awaited the arrival of baby Jesus, our Prince of Peace, who saved us.
As I knelt down to pray, I reflected on Isaiah 53, where our Savior was “despised and rejected” (v.3) and endured our punishment so we could receive salvation and peace (v.5). As I meditated on these words, I remembered God’s love and everlasting faithfulness. We should share this Gospel message with our children and grandchildren. How can you make praising Jesus and thanking God for His faithfulness part of your daily devotions during Praise Week?
Loving God, we praise you for sending us our “Prince of Peace,” and Messiah. Please give us the wisdom to teach our children about your love and faithfulness which endures from generation to generation. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord, our Immanuel. Amen
