Lay Devotion with Kim Wu
“We are unable to run from God without also running into God.”
Steve Harper, in his book, “Five Marks of a Methodist”, wrote this sentence as a way of explaining God’s agape love for us. It is all around us, unending and unconditional.
No matter what we face, not matter what we have done in the past, God is there with us and loves us completely.
In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he declares, ”neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
To know and rest in that love. What does that look like? What kind of response does that stir within you?
Years ago I read a prayer that a mother prayed for her daughter, and I have prayed parts of it over my two girls, and I pray it for myself too. I pray that every turn in life leads us to Jesus, and that His love for us is so compelling to us that we ache for it.
I want and pray for Jesus to be the driving desire of my life. I want a faith that is practiced in full, with a deep and wholehearted awe-filled embrace of God’s love that moves me to love Him sacrificially and to passionately step into whatever He calls me to do.
What is your response to to God's never-ending love for you?
