Lenten Reflection Day 24
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.
Saint Augustine said that to be human is like having your face up close to a stained glass window. Everything looks jagged and broken; there’s no beauty there and nothing makes sense. But if you are able to step back from the window, you see something entirely different. You see the bigger, beautiful picture.
Some days I find life overwhelming, and God feels so very far away.
But I am reminded that I do not have the complete picture; only God does. “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”
Although this does not mean all things are good, it does mean that God is redeeming all things. God is bigger than all the things that overwhelm me.
Heavenly Father, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, You quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer. You are my fortress, the mighty Rock where I can hide. Thank you, Lord, that You are always close. Amen. (Psalm 96:19-22, TLB)
