New Hope Fellowship – Good News!

New Hope Fellowship Church serves the homeless in our community.  When COVID hit, it lost access to the Community Center on Stringfellow Road where it held services and provided breakfast and lunch to its congregation.  Since then, it has been meeting on Sunday mornings at the Lamb Center in Fairfax Circle.  Led by Pastor Windy Walton and Pastor Rick Jones, New Hope Fellowship offers a worship service followed by a lunch meal.  In addition, the community is provided with toiletries, essentials, and clothing.

CUMC supports New Hope Fellowship.  As one of a group of partner churches who support New Hope’s ministry, CUMC provides $2000 each year to help cover expenses.  As part of our Capital Campaign investment in missions, we provide lunch every other month.  And we regularly offer toiletries, necessities, fruit, breakfast bars, clothing, and other essentials throughout the year.

The good news is that Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfax has recently extended an invitation for New Hope to share its Church facility.  Beginning on Easter, April 17th, they will meet in the fellowship hall there at 12:30 for service and lunch.  It will be wonderful to be back inside and to have a sense of ‘permanence’ in this Church facility.

CUMC will continue to support the New Hope Fellowship. Besides lunch, we can expect increased requirements for funding of gas and vehicle maintenance as they resume shuttle runs to and from Sunday services.
