Our Wandering Wise Men – December 1

Being very wise in their own eyes, Gaspar, Balthasar, and Melchior were dismayed to find themselves stuck in a preschool classroom. And in a dollhouse no less, with a door that could not be opened. The wise men threw their hands up in the air in frustration. Gaspar sighed, “It is such a shame our wisdom is wasted here among only children. We must find a way out. Surely there is a King who desperately needs our wise counsel, and we must find him.” (At this point, we are left to wonder…how will our wise little friends react when they learn the King they were seeking was but a small child himself?)

Today's Quote: “Life in a prison cell may well be compared to Advent; one waits, hopes, and does this, that, or the other – things that are of no real consequence. The door is shut and can be opened only from the outside.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)

Today's Microchallenge: Make a list of things you are hoping for – a promotion, a relationship, or any number of other things. Choose one item from your list and say a brief prayer for God’s help in bringing this about. If you feel uncomfortable praying about it, consider whether the item you have chosen is something you should hope for. Ask God for clarity. Resolve to hope for things that bring you closest to God.
