Our Wandering Wise Men – December 10

Everything on this journey was going wrong!  Where the magi had expected angels’ wings, they got choir robes.  They won BINGO, but it was useless frankincense and myrrh.  They spent the last of their gold on gifts that were sent to Tennessee (and they fear poor Donnie met a tragic end when he fell into the bag).  What’s more, the bulk of their rations had been given to schoolchildren.  Now what would they do?  How would they get to Bethlehem?   Balthasar suggested an impromptu camel wash to raise funds!  But since they were the only people still traveling by camel, Melchior suggested they have a bake sale instead.  The magi got to baking cookies, but most of them didn’t turn out because Gaspar kept opening the oven to see if they were done, and Balthasar ate most of the dough.

Today's Quote:  “God is faithful, but He is slow. We don’t want a slow God, we don’t want to wait. Sue Monk Kidd says, “When you are waiting you are not doing nothing. You’re doing something. You’re allowing your soul to grow up. If you can’t be still and wait, you can’t become what God created you to be.” We will hear the whispering of God if we are willing to wait, if we are willing to abandon the need for the quick fix. God is our midwife, not our rescuer.” (Mike Yaconelli)

Today's Microchallenge:  Buy some cookies at the Music Ministry bake sale today! Or bake a dozen or so cookies and give them to your UPS driver, postal carrier, Amazon delivery driver, or another essential worker whom you barely know.
