THANKSGIVING
Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar stumbled upon a group of Young Adults who were giving thanks and feasting together. They gave thanks for all they had been given and let their supplications be known.
SCRIPTURE
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:5-9)
FOOLISH WISDOM
That night, Melchior dreamed again of the long spoons. In the dream, God took him to a room full of thin and sickly people. They were holding spoons with very long handles which went past their arms. In the middle of the room was a sumptuous pot of mouth watering stew. The people could get the spoon into the pot, but they couldn’t get the spoonful of stew to their mouths because of the long handles. Melchior shuddered at the torment. He asked God what he was seeing. “This is Hell,” said God. After another moment of horror and pity, Melchior asked, “God, may I see the room of Heaven?” God said, “It is the same room, Melchior, except in that room they are feeding each other.
PRAYER
Make a gratitude list. Write at least one thing for each letter of the alphabet. When saying grace, consider all the debts of gratitude you owe for a simple meal. How many people have contributed to the food arriving on our tables? How many can you count?
