Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar knew from their wide knowledge that one should not approach the royal court without bearing gifts worthy of a king. But what gift to give? What’s more, how would they attain positions as the king’s wise counselors if they brought unbefitting gifts? So they pooled their gold together and bought a new iphone, an actual white elephant, and a starbuck’s gift card. The men congratulated themselves on choosing the perfect gifts that were truly fit for a King. The wrapping, however, evaded their learned ways. Gaspar accidentally wrapped Melchior instead of the gifts, and Balthasar got stuck in the scotch tape. (Thank goodness their tagalong Donnie showed up to help them ready their gifts.)
Today's Quote:
What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb.
If I were a wise man
I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him?
I give Him my heart.
-Christina Rossetti
Today's Microchallenge: Find an item that already belongs to a loved one. Secretly wrap it and place it under the tree with their name on it. Do this with as many items as you like. Invite them to consider the following when they open this gift: did they even know it was lost? Are they joyous that it has been returned? Do they recognize it as their own? Has re-wrapping it made the item seem new to them? How do these reactions reflect on the Christian journey?. (see Luke 15)
