O LITTLE TOWN
Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar were following the star and now could see their destination in the distance. The little town of Bethlehem. “It is little.” said Caspar. “How still we see it lie.” said Balthazar, who was still humming tunes from the Bonfires and Carols two nights before. Melchior said, “Did you, a Play Mobile wise man, just call Bethlehem little?”
SCRIPTURE
But you, O Bethlehem, Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the claims of Judah, from you shall come forth for me on who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. (Micah 5:2)
FOOLISH WISDOM
“There are some little ones among you -”little among the clans of Judah.” No one ever heard your name, did they? You do not know much of yourself, or think much of yourself. You are one of the little ones. Well, Christ is born in Bethlehem among the little ones. Big hearts never get Christ inside of them; Christ lies not in great hearts, but little ones. Mighty and proud spirits never have Jesus Christ, for he comes in at low doors, but he will not come in at high ones. He who has a broken heart, and a low spirit, shall have the Savior, but no one else.” (Charles Spurgeon)
PRAYER
Lord, the sea is so big, and my boat is so small. Be with me. (Old Hebridean Fisherman’s prayer)
