Rev. Geitra Mickelson
Associate PastorGeitra Mickelson is a life-long United Methodist who has joyfully served the church in a variety of capacities. Before she answered God’s call to pastoral ministry, she was active in worship planning, music ministries, children and youth activities, and Stephen Ministry. Most recently, she served as an associate pastor at Galilee United Methodist Church in Sterling, VA, where she focused primarily on worship design and community outreach.
An Ohio native, Geitra received her Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts from Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. She was also certified and licensed to teach secondary English and Theater, but became involved in arts management instead. After working for the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center, she took some time off to raise her family alongside her husband, Neil.
Geitra and Neil attended high school together, married in 1998, and initially resided in Long Beach, CA, where Neil was stationed as a U.S. Air Force officer at Los Angeles Air Force Base. Three years later, the military relocated them to Annandale, VA. They moved to Herndon in 2004, where they have been ever since, and Neil is now a Principal and Program Manager at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Together, they’ve been blessed by their three children. Their twin sons Adrian and Gabriel attend Langston Hughes Middle School and enjoy computer programming, arts, and playing piano and drums. Their daughter Amelia starts her junior year at South Lakes High School in the fall. She enjoys creative writing, playing piano, and is very active in choir and a capella groups.
Geitra answered her call to ministry while at Sterling United Methodist Church, became a licensed local pastor in 2017, and received her Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC in 2020. She is looking forward to sharing her passion, creativity, and her love of God and all God’s children with Centreville UMC.

Kim Wu
Assistant Director of CommunicationsKim Wu was raised in the Methodist church, and joined CUMC in 1999. She is a lifelong learner who is passionate about spiritual formation – providing people with opportunities to grow in their own faith and experience community in small groups. During the pandemic, Kim found her voice and her calling for this season in her life when she began writing devotions for the church and helping Phil Mohr in communications.
Kim joined the staff at CUMC in 2021, and has embraced communications as a ministry of the church. She enjoys using her creativity and unique gifts to find new ways to tell the Good News story and invite others to experience the abundant life Christ offers, as well as celebrate what God is doing through the people of CUMC. This includes exploring new ways for the church to engage with the community and beyond through its digital ministry and online worship experiences.
Kim grew up in Hampton, Virginia, relocating to Northern Virginia after receiving a degree in economics from the College of William and Mary, where she met her husband, Garret. They have two grown daughters. She enjoys scrapbooking, trying new and adventurous restaurants, photography, and spending time outdoors.

Steve Shaiko
Facilities ManagerSteve was born and reared in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and survived 16 years of Catholic education. The last four years were spent at Loyola College (now University) in Baltimore, Maryland under the progressively liberal Jesuits where he earned his degree in Physics and Engineering Sciences.
Steve worked at Washington Gas for 22 years, primarily in the Gas Supply division. After stints at NOVEC Energy Solutions and PEPCO Energy Services where he was a Natural gas commodities trader, Steve retired and began volunteering on a regular basis at CUMC. This ultimately led to his full time position as the Director of Facilities.
Steve continues to serve where needed and has been a long term participant in Sneedville, Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, Early Response Team (ERT), Hypothermia Shelter and other missions areas.
Steve’s life took at dramatic upturn when he met, married Barb and was re-introduced to the love of Jesus as reflected by the CUMC community of faith. Steve and Barb were married at CUMC in 1990 (Becky Jackson played the organ!), live in Centreville, have three children and five grandchildren.
