Lenten Devotion Day 18 – Resiliency and Servanthood

1 John 3:16-17

We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters.  How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?

Media: A tornado destroyed a United Methodist Church in Kentucky, yet the people of that church demonstrated resiliency and faithfulness to overcome the disaster and embrace servanthood.

Response:  Many people in our community have faced traumas of various kinds. Even when we are suffering and grieving ourselves, healing begins when look beyond our own suffering to the needs of others. How can you work to meet their needs?

Prayer Focus:  God’s love for people facing disasters and trauma.
