Lenten Devotion Day 22 – A Voice for the Voiceless

March 18

Proverbs 31:8-9

Speak out for those who cannot speak,
for the rights of all the destitute.
Speak out; judge righteously;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Media:  Today we watch a brief documentary about Catholic Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador.  Note:  This video depicts images of death and violence, and may not be suitable for everyone.

Response:   Archbishop Romero was a voice for the poor who were voiceless, speaking out against repression in his country.  In what ways can you be the voice for the voiceless in your community?

Prayer Focus:  Courage to speak out for others who are unable to speak for themselves
