Lay Devotion with Joyce Dantzler

This week's lay devotion was written by Joyce Dantzler:

Early spring in yards across the country, parents, grandparents, and guardians get busy hiding Easter eggs. Eggs that have been beautifully colored and designed, are carefully hidden in conspicuous as well as in challenging places. Then, children are released into the yard to see how many eggs they can find!

At first, the egg hunt is easy and fun. Some of the eggs are placed in the open for quick recovery. After some time, the hunt becomes hard… like work! The children must now intentionally search deeper by lifting things, searching in tree branches, moving leaves, etc.

Finding God can seem like an Easter egg hunt. When times are good, we see God everywhere. We sense His presence in good news and sunny days. At other times, however, there are cloudy days and bad news. In those moments, we must intentionally seek Him. God is there in the hard times as well as the good times. Just like the hidden Easter egg, He is always there waiting to be found.

Prayer:
Thank you for Your promised presence in our lives. Your word assures me that if I seek You with all my heart, I will find You. No matter my circumstances, I know that You are with me and will never forsake me. Amen.
