Lenten Devotion Day 36 – Perseverance

April 4

Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Media: Our faith journey is akin to a race or a fight.  It’s the pursuit of our lives, and can be difficult and demanding as we encounter obstacles and challenges along the way.

Response:   What obstacles are you encountering as you seek to deepen your relationship with Christ?  The obstacle of indifference?  Insufficiency? The obstacle of slow progress? Or the obstacle of opposition?   What discourages you?

Prayer Focus:  Ask for perseverance as you embrace and seek to overcome your obstacles, and for the courage to keep going.
