Lenten Devotion Day 40 – Holy Saturday

April 8

Psalm 22:1-3

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning?
O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer;
and by night but find no rest.

Yet you are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel.

Media: On this Holy Saturday, we join God in the silence.  It’s a day of waiting, of sitting in the space between the despair of Friday, and the joy of Sunday.

Response:  While God is silent, God is not absent.  If you are in your own Saturday, waiting and hoping in the silence, use this day to lament, to grieve, to wrestle with your own doubts and fears.  And be comforted by the knowledge that Jesus, having endured suffering Himself, is with you in your suffering.

Prayer Focus:  Lord, I wait in the silence of Your apparent absence.   Lord, my hope rests in the coming of the dawn tomorrow!
